About Us

Its mission is to provide support to lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, their families and anyone who is dealing with questions related to sexual orientation and gender identity at home or at work. Fondation Émergence

Gai Écoute believes it is important to raise the population’s awareness of the realities of LGBT communities and to fight against homophobia in order to prevent problems related to social exclusion. That is why Gai Écoute is a proud partner of the Fondation Émergence, an organization that offers information and awareness programs to fight prejudice and to promote the well-being and equality of LGBT people. The Fondation Émergence, which is a Gai Écoute initiative, is a fully autonomous body with its own board of directors, whose members are elected by a Board of Governors. In 2012-2013, Gai Écoute continued to manage the daily operations of the Fondation Émergence, which paid it a management fee in exchange for the services and support it received.

Gai Écoute is a member or partner of the following organizations :

  • Association des centres d’écoute téléphonique du Québec (ACET);
  • Association des lesbiennes et des gais sur Internet (ALGI);
  • Association québécoise de prévention du suicide (AQPS);
  • Centre communautaire des gais et lesbiennes de Montréal (CCGLM);
  • Montreal Youth Coalition Against Homophobia;
  • Regroupement intersectoriel des organismes communautaires de Montréal (RIOCM);
  • Réseau des lesbiennes du Québec (RLQ);
  • Suicide Action Montréal (SAM).

Gai Écoute also works closely with organizations and media of the LGBT communities.
